Dean Glorso Served in Vietnam 1968 - 1969 with the United States Marine Corps. He belongs to a Marine Veterans group called Cooper's Troopers in Arvada Colorado. He enjoys hearing the stories from Iwo Jima Vets within in this veterans group. The original oil painting was donated to this group and given away as a door prize. The painting was also desplayed in the Commerce City, Colorado Memorial Day Parade several years ago and Glorso recieved an award for the showing. A copy of this image was presented to Congressman Perlmutter by 13 returning Iwo Jima Marine Veterans, as Mr. Perlmutter helped make their return trip possible. Keith Wells was one of the Marines who signed the letter that was presented to Mr. Perlmutter. Keith Wells was the platoon commander for the platoon who raise the first flag on Iwo Jima.
(BIO PHOTO CREDIT: Adrienne Summers) Dean Glorso grew up in the 1950s and '60s on a 4-lane highway just outside Chicago. On a typical summer afternoon, he and his brother Sam would sit on the front porch and watch the cars go by. For hours they played a game of, "Who could name the make and model first". The love for classic cars caused him to begin painting the details of their uniqueness. Retired at age 72 Dean now works full time building his fine art image. Dan, a salute of gratitude to your Brother in Law's Uncle. Several surviors of Iwo Jima are still active a Marine Corps Veteran's group called Coopers Troopers (made of of Marine's of all ages who served in various conflects). We meet every 3rd Thursday for lunch here in Colorado. FYI A print of this Iwo Jima painting also hangs in Senetor Pearlmutter's office, as our group of Iwo Vets gave it to him as a special thanks for making it politically possible for them to return to the Japanese island in 2010. Semper Fidelis, Dean Glorso
